Edgar Cayce Vs. Abraham Hicks – Selflessness Vs. Selfishness

According to Edgar Cayce, ‘Long-suffering’, ‘Patience’ and even ‘Self-sacrifice’ are desirable ‘Fruits of the Spirit’. So is Obedience. These words aren’t in the lexicon of the ‘Law of Attraction’ gospel of Abraham Hicks.

The popular Law of Attraction model states that humans should primarily assist in the development of others via exemplifying a good happy prosperous role model. Relationships with others are often regarded as something that can impede one’s happiness.

The Edgar Cayce model appears to provide more potential interpersonal friction in its selfless service to others.  ‘Selfless Service’ is known as  ‘Seva‘ in eastern philosophies.

Abraham’s outlook appears to be more selfish, less compassionate, and doesn’t sufficiently grasp the Universal Law of One. Certainly practitioners won’t be benefiting from the Universal Law of Grace but is there an additional more rehabilitative aspect to a shortfall of brotherly love?

Compassion and Brotherly Love are also Fruits of the Spirit.

It’s also possible that Abraham doesn’t believe in the Universal Law of Karma, the inverse of the Law of Grace.

The Spiritual Fruit Obedience refers to adherence to the Universal Laws because humans might as well do what will make their journey the easiest and increased altruism is apparently the shorter path to uniting with Unicity.  Greater attunement to the more compassionate Law of One seems an obvious shortcut to Unicity.

According to Edgar Cayce the MOST IMPORTANT rule in the Bible is:

" [37]...Thou shalt
love the lord thy God with all thy heart
and all thy soul, and all thy mind...
[39] And the second is like unto it,
Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
[40] On these two commandments hang all the law
and the prophets."     - Matt.22 Verses 37-40
In loving only circumstances beneficial to self it befits the adage that someone must have love for themselves before they can give it to others, but reduces the subject’s love to the size of their own body relative to the size the Universe. How much more love is there in the Universe?
Selfishness is 180 degrees opposed to ‘Oneness’ and Oneness is Wisdom.

Moreover, in listening to the Abraham broadcasts, I’ve heard Abraham backtrack on two subjects; a degree of imperfection not found in the Edgar Cayce readings. The entities that comprise Abraham describe themselves as “Infinite Intelligence’ but close examination discloses that they’re decidedly ‘Finite’ and don’t know that “Wisdom” is a synonym of ‘Oneness’.

Nonetheless there are noteworthy benefits to willfully raising one’s vibration to Peace, Happiness, Appreciation and Love even if the extent of the Love doesn’t equal Edgar Cayce’s.

I personally found Peace to be too elusive as an Edgar Cayce Ideal but find contemplating peace/satisfaction the easiest of Abraham’s recommended emotions to achieve for frequent limited periods of time and contemplating all of them seems to make me stand a little straighter.

The Abrahamic approach is in complete accord with my own lexicological findings that the positive emotions are both “the way” and the destination and, significantly, can bolster amour-propre and faith.  A more direct “way”, paradoxically, may be encumbered by more acts of compassion.

There are many positive attributes to Abraham’s teachings, not the least of which is raising one’s vibrations as frequently, and for as long, as possible.  The greater ability and challenge, however, may reside in integrating these vibrations with a solid foundation in helping others.

Greed Vs. Largesse

The modern conservative is not even especially modern. He is engaged, on the contrary, in one of man’s oldest, best financed, most applauded, and, on the whole, least successful exercises; One of the last is most often cited: “The modern conservative is engaged in one of man’s oldest exercises in moral philosophy, that is the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness. It is an exercise which always involves a certain number of internal contradictions and even a few absurdities. The conspicuously wealthy turn up urging the character-building value of privation for the poor.”
– John Kenneth Galbraith   [“Stop the Madness,” Interview with Rupert Cornwell, Toronto Globe and Mail (6 Jul 2002)]

In counterpoint to “trickle-down economics” the theory has historically previously been branded as the “horse and sparrow theory” of the 1890’s whereby “If you feed the horse enough oats, some will pass through for the sparrows” as well as “The rich pissing on the poor” by a New Zealand labour MP.  These gross caricatures of elimination, unkind treatment and condescension, even if inelegant, aren’t inaccurate. Keynesian and other theories claim that tax cuts for the wealthy aren’t used for productive investing but rather for personal gain.  2012 research, by the Tax Justice Network verifies that the wealth of the ultra wealthy doesn’t trickle down to improve the economy but amasses and shelters in tax havens with a negative effect on the tax base of the entire home economy.  Professor Ha-Joon Chang sites examples of “slowing job growth in the last few decades, rising income inequality in most rich nations, and the inability provision in raising living standards across all income brackets rather than at the top only”

“The privileged have regularly invited their own destruction with their greed.”
– John Kenneth Galbraith, The Age of Uncertainty

“One blueprint for trouble, making collapse likely, is when there’s a conflict of interest between the short term interest of the decision-making elite and the long-term interests of society as a whole especially if the elite are able to insulate themselves from the consequences of their actions.  Where what’s good for the short run for the elite is bad for the society as a whole, there’s a real risk that the elite will do something bad to bring society down in the long run…Those same issues, of a conflict of interest, are acute in the United States today especially because the elite decision-makers are able to isolate themselves from the consequences of their actions…In the last couple of years it’s been obvious that the elite in the business world correctly perceive that they can advance their short-term interests by doing things that are good for them but bad for society as a whole.”  – Jared Diamond on Why Societies Collapse

It’s not money but, more to the point, selfishness that’s the root of evil.  (See Intent)

“Know, self is the only excuse.  Self is the only sin; that is, selfishness, and all the others, are just a modification of that expression of the ego.” – Edgar Cayce 1362-1

Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, T. Boone Pickens, Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, are among 125 of the world’s wealthiest individuals who have signed The Giving Pledge thereby becoming the best possible personal/corporate role models by dedicating the majority of their wealth to philanthropy.  To other wealthy candidates this doesn’t necessarily mean that protracted harm to society can be karmically assuaged by a charitable bequest – but it’s better than naught.

The Answer

Men Vs. Women

Modern metaphysical thought has posited that there’s a female self within men and a male self within women.  I’ve long resented the fact that the female side of ourselves is characterized as having all the best attributes; ie. love and compassion.  I know myself enough to know that there’s evidence (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, ) that I at least cogitate these attributes more often than many.  “Just because women nurture children…”, I’ve thought, “…doesn’t mean that woman can lay claim to these attributes as characteristically their own.”

Moreover I had already hypothesized, during a university television theory course, that the primary difference between the way that men and women think, based on what they watched on TV, originates in their genitals.  I wasn’t wrong.  The biggest difference between men and women physiologically is the gonads of their powerful endocrine system.  This is the base chakra in spiritual parlance and oft erroneously regarded to be, like porn, the “lowest”.  It’s life itself and a powerful driver.*

The difference, in television viewing preference, between men and women is that men primarily watch the news and women, while I don’t personally know any, primarily watch soap operas.

A soap opera that I, as a young man, thoroughly enjoyed was St. Elsewhere for the artistry of the “ensemble” medical soapistry amidst 5 intertwined story lines.  At least one story must be comedic in an ensemble series.  Hill Street Blues was another that I enjoyed.

News stories are sound bites that are always conclusive whether or not the story is ongoing.  On the other, left, hand soap operas have never-ending stories wherein, even if one story line ends, it leads into another one.  Men are are linear and conclusive, and women are cyclic.  (Cyclic is “Big Picture”.)  I’ve heard this iterated, from pop psychology books, most often in the form of arguments between partners; Men seek a happy conclusion with all due diligence and women are seeking something more continuous.  (Put your arm around her and sympathize.  Love is necessary.)

Above I wrote: “Just because women nurture children…”, I’ve thought, “…that doesn’t mean that woman can lay claim to these (love & compassion) attributes as characteristically their own.”.

I’ve been wrong. Love and BIG PICTURE are more strongly in the purview of women because men are influenced more by their left cerebral hemisphere.

Photo from the GenderTrender Blog

In my Getting In Our Right Mind post I wrote that the left hemisphere finds conclusions even if it deduces for you as real possibilities things that may not even exist.  It’s also that same little negative voice that sometimes berates you.  The left hemisphere is also incapable of seeing the simplest “Big Picture”.

The right hemisphere exclusively has capacity of vision to see the “Big Picture” as well as the capacity for, among other emotions, “Love”.   Both are supremely significant factors. The right side is the correct side in the great on-going universal battle of Life Vs Entropy.  “We” Vs “I”.  The right hemisphere is “Life”and “We” and “Love” and “Big Picture” and “Music” and “Creativity” and “Nature”.

In my Science and Spirituality post I wrote that, according to Edgar Cayce, BIG PICTURE (We are One) and LOVE are the the 2 most fundamental Universal Laws and are as irrevocable as laws of physics.   Women, being more right hemisphered, are more in tune with both of these positive attributes albeit the love can become obfuscated amidst the panoply of all the other more greatly felt emotions.  Left-brained conclusive men once thought to offer a cure for this condition in the assumption that hysteria resided in the uterus and therefore inventing the hysterectomy to remove it.  Very thoughtful but not “Big Picture” or loving enough.

I subscribe to the following belief and don’t recall where the theory was garnered:

We are immortal and essentially generally retain the same gender over many lifetimes.  Homosexuality arises when we choose a lifetime of the opposite gender than that which humans are intended to be.  Women primarily make this choice due to the obvious discrimination of the last 2000 years and men primarily chose this due to the horrors of war.

Photo from Pixdaus

According to Edgar Cayce one individual returned for a lifetime as a gay man who had once terribly publicly ridiculed, as a cartoonist, the gay men of the French courts of Louis XIII and Louis XIV; a noteworthy consequence for gay bashers.

“Condemn not, then, that ye be not condemned. For indeed with what measure ye mete it will be measured to thee again. And that thou condemnest in another (yea, every man – every woman), that thou becomest in thine self!” – Edgar Cayce 1089-3

I believe that the genders will fully come together at a later epoch in our collective development and “when” is likely highly dependent on how much we come together now. It’s inevitable if we’re all to eventually reunite in God.  Reuniting our genders as One is a long-term imperative and, IMO, a powerful first chakra driven incentive towards the ultimate “One” realization.

It’s incumbent on men to learn to know the BIG PICTURE and greater LOVE.  I wouldn’t presume to suggest what women need to know.  Women use both brain hemispheres.

30. (Q) Is there something spiritual in the attraction between the sexes (as I suspect), or would it be to advantage if I repressed the constant quest for a beautiful girl companion?
(A) There is something spiritual, which is being, as has been indicated, a co-creator with the divine.  – Edgar Cayce 5250-1

* Note: In modern times there has developed a top-down exercise for “grounding” one’s chakras.  In martial arts strength is gathered arising from the Earth through the base chakra.  The Lord’s Prayer, according to Edgar Cayce, a devout Christian, is a dance through the chakras starting and finishing with the top chakra:

Our Father who art in Heaven = For Thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, forever and forever

Amen

Intent

There’s a fairly well-known Edgar Cayce story that illustrates the importance of intent.  The following is paraphrased from memory.  If found the citations will be added at that time.

One of the people to whom Edgar Cayce gave an in-trance reading was a chaste young woman who wondered why she had the undeserved reputation for being known as the slutty promiscuous girl at school and elsewhere.  She had never done anything to encourage it.

Cayce responded that in a past life she had been a prostitute and had used her body carnally in order to extract whatever she could from men.

Another woman for who Cayce gave a reading had been treated all of her charmed life as if she were a saint.  He told her that in a past life she had been a prostitute and had done all she could to bring loving comfort to lonely men.

Humans Vs. Plants

Who is smarter?  Humans, or plants?

Some humans believe that they, being the smartest, are at the top of the environmental chain.  They believe that they have the right to be the dominators of resources or “overburden” and not the stewards, of nature.

Are humans able to comprehend the consciousness of a leaf?

BTW who, in Nissan’s marketing department, decided to name their electric car the ‘Leaf’?  Except for Toronto hockey fans how many people want to identify with a leaf?  Cars are iconic in advertising for being the stylish fun things with which people personally identify and, in dream analysis, your car symbolizes, almost invariably, your body.  Leafs (plural in Toronto parlance) are shiny clapping things that are so delicate and ephemeral that they flamboyantly flutter to the earth and expire annually.  ‘Vector’, or even ‘Evergreen’, would be better names for EVs.

Above Leonard Nimoy (1931-2015) [Peace] narrates a vintage kitschy (Is that a Moog synthesizer?) TV episode of ‘In Search Of ‘ titled Other Voices.  My last blog post, on Thursday Feb. 26th, about Vulcan Proverbs and Edgar Cayce included Nimoy as Spock.  On Friday, the 27th, TV’s beloved Mr. Spock passed away.  In hindsight the post looks like a respectable homage.

This research regarding plants and music is old information.  Some today attest that plants most prefer high frequency sounds that sound a lot like birds cheeping.  Not sure about the ridiculously hard-to-record pterodactyl call found here.   Here are some Youtube resources to play to your plants.

The above video, from TV’s Mythbusters, verifies that plants know your intent.

Evidently you can’t fool a plant by holding up a lighter and pretending that you’re going to burn it.  You have to mean it.

Humans don’t even know their own intent

The human left brain, based on past experiences, is constantly creating circumstances and coming to conclusions often with no basis in reality.  It’s the little voice that sometimes gives you a hard time. Humans often don’t even know their own intent as it is intended to incorporate the BIG PICTURE and ‘Love’of the right hemisphere.

A plant knows how to glow its being without comparison to anything else.

Edgar Cayce quotes re. Nature

“Is the oak lord over the vine? Is the Jimson (weed) beset before the tomato? Are the grassy roots ashamed of their flower beside the rose?

All those forces in nature are fulfilling rather those purposes to which their Maker, their Creator, has called them into being… reflecting –as each soul, as each man and each should do in their particular sphere — their concept of the Maker!”  1391-1

“In all nature the Spirit of Creation is emanating, and one that attunes self in mind or mental forces towards beings of emanation, gains knowledge in an inestimable manner, that becomes the soul, the personality, the being of the individual.” 354-2

“Listen to the birds.  Watch the blush of the rose.  Listen to the life rising in the tree.  These serve their Maker.  Through what?  That psychic force, that is Life itself…Learn, O Man, from that about thee.”  364-10

Q- “How is the best way to explain God to a child under twelve years?”

A- “In nature” 5747-1

So…

1. A plant knows human intent

2. A plant knows how to glow its being

3. Nature is God

…who’s smarter:

Humans or plants?

Vulcan Philosophy, Edgar Cayce & Astrology

Here are some Vulcan proverbs of which Edgar Cayce might approve:

“Nothing unreal exists.”

Unreleased movie footage of Spock being infantile.

“Nothing that is is unimportant.”

“We are here to serve.”

“My mind to your mind… my thoughts to your thoughts…”

These are words used during Vulcan mind melds as well as by Professor Charles Francis Xavier in The X-Men #3 (January 1964).  To render the Infinite finite is one of the reasons that Edgar Cayce says we’re here.  Heartfelt empathy is a good path.

“The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few or the one.”

Edgar Cayce mentions self-crucifixion, in an unrelated way, twice:

…”In that day did they call upon the name of the Lord” (Genesis 4:26) –is right! and ever, when the elements that make for littleness, uncleanness, are crucified in the body, The Spirit of the Lord, of God, is present.”  5748-1

“In Egypt, that which had been the basis of all the teachings in those of the temple, and the after actions of the crucifying of self in relationships to ideals that make for the abilities of carrying on that called to be done.” (re. what Christ learned abroad) 2067-11

‘The teachings in those of the temple’ would include the teachings of Ra Ta, who Edgar Cayce had been in a past life.

“In accepting the inevitable, one finds peace.”

Acceptance isn’t a Cayce topic but ‘Accepting what is’ is a basic tenet of Byron Katie who writes that it’s a necessary precursor to finding peace.

“Not my will but Yours, o Lord.” is a common Cayce affirmation

LOGIC

“Logic is the cement of our civilization, with which we ascend from chaos, using reason as our guide.

“Logic is the beginning, not the end, of Wisdom.”

Possibly derived from “Doubt is the beginning, not the end of Wisdom.”  George Illes (1852 – 1942)

The closest that Edgar Cayce comes to mentioning logic is ‘Logos’ with regards to Astrology and Ancient Persian Charts being Logos or “charts that have been set”.  826-8  Astronomy and astrology mirrored each other more closely therein.

Dictionary definition of logos = In philosophy the rational principle that governs and develops the universe.  In ideology the word incarnate in Jesus Christ.

“Live Long and Prosper”

“Peace and Long Life” (common appropriate response)

Edgar Cayce Vs. Yoda

Jedi Master Yoda was pretty spry for a 900-year-old, and a pretty wise old guy too, but he wasn’t always right.  He’s known to have made some pretty significant blunders.  The following iconic quote is one of them:

Yoda:  “Do, or do not. There is no try.”

Edgar Cayce: “It is the ‘try‘ that is the more often counted as righteousness, and not the success or failure.”  931-1

“You only fail if you quit trying.”  3292-1

“To not know, but do the best as is known, felt, experienced in self, to him it is counted as righteousness; not as an excuse, neither as a justification.  For ye have been justified once for all, through the Christ Consciousness that ye seek.”  5758-1

“Man looks upon the outward appearances and judges success by material standards.  God looks on the heart and judges rather by the sincerity of the individual’s ‘try’.”  3129-1

The foregoing quotes are from “JUST TRY YOUR VERY BEST” in this book:

Factoid: Muppet’s wizard (of) Frank Oz performed the animation, and the voices for, both Master ‘Yoda’ and the legendary goddess ‘Miss Piggy’.

You can’t really blame ol’ Yoda.  After all, it was a long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.

The Amazing Randi Exposed

James Randi (Randal Zwinge) is a magician; a self-professed conjuror and a funded dispeller of psychic fraud. His 1980’s book ‘Flim-Flam!’ delivers what the title promises.  Unfortunately it’s Randy who’s performing flim-flam on his readership.  That will be easily verified here:

Mr. Randi writes, of Edgar Cayce, in this book, “Cayce was fond of expressions like ‘I feel that’ and ‘perhaps‘–qualifying words used to avoid positive declarations. It is a common tool in the psychic trade.”

Everything that Edgar Cayce stated during his trance state was meticulously transcribed by a stenographer.  Today this resource is available on DVD-ROM which is easily searchable for keywords like ‘feel’ and  ‘perhaps’.

In more than 14300 readings Edgar Cayce never once states ‘I feel that’ or anything similar to it.  All of his readings, rather, which contain the root word ‘feel’ describe, with precision, the way the subject feels.  In fact even the word ‘I’ in the readings is exceedingly scarce with almost all of the readings being given from the collective perspective of; We have the body”.

A complete compilation of all of Edgar Cayce’s readings is available for purchase ($120) on DVD-ROM (or free for use online to A.R.E. members).  They are presented therein complete with background, correspondence, questions, reports, and footnotes proffered by Mr. Cayce’s subjects, their relatives, and his colleagues.  These non-Cayce components of the readings present an excellent, lateral, control comparison of the frequency of the written word ‘perhaps’ by Mr. Cayce’s contemporaries relative to how often Mr. Cayce used the spoken word himself.  The word appears hundreds of times in the accompanying documents in normal written use by his contemporaries.  By contrast, in more than 14,000 readings, Mr. Cayce used the word ‘perhaps’ in only 6 readings.  These are as follows:

14 (Q) Is it correct for me to believe as true, that information regarding my Palestine reincarnation which came as a dream in form and appearance as a reading in the very early morning of January 5th?
(A) If this reoccurs to the body, in perhaps some changed form, then consider it – as an experience in turning back in time and space .  READING 2072-12

14. (Q) What phase of painting should I specialize in so that I may present those things most worthwhile?
(A) As has been indicated, these should come as it were as MOODS for the entity. At times those that express nature, as from the fields themselves; at times those that express the necessity for that held as a thought to be wielded into justice, yet mercy with same – those that would measure or judge between the fellowman when both perhaps are somewhat selfish and self-centered in their demands one upon another. Again there is the mood when those things which would represent the altars even of Life itself, may be depicted; not so much sacrifice as of duty, as of love, as of the expressions that find themselves from nature’s influences but fill their place in the lives of individuals that may be assembled for such an activity. These then, as we find. While this may be somewhat broad, yet it is very, very definite – when it’s once begun.   READING 338-4

11. Liver below normal in functioning. Excessive in excretory forces. Secretions as for digestion below normal. Excessive in excretory forces. Hence the condition as exists in the digestive system, the tendency for the body to be excessive either in laxativeness through the intestines, or just the opposite, constipation for time. The functioning then of the lower portion of the digestive system shows how these excesses produce these effects in the system, through the changes that often take place, in how digestion acts and react in the system. That is, at one time properties taken in the system digest easily, while with the next perhaps that these are taken, the same conditions will produce indigestion for the body. Excess then in kidneys, and the pains as produced in bladder at times, is a reflex nerve condition of the body.  READING 4409-1

5. (Q) As given in reading of December 27, 1924, on horoscope, [900-14] body will be connected to business of aerial nature in June. Will it be wise for the body to enter into this business connection, judging by people he is to associate with and also profits that may be derived from such a connection?
(A) These must be adjudged by the individuals themselves. As has been given, “no man can serve two masters,” depending then, as has been outlined for the body. There will be, there are, many smaller concerns, connections, businesses, business relations, that will be brought to the body, [900] and the body will be able to see how such conditions may be made profitable in financial way to self and to others. Act according to the dictates of the individual’s conscience and will force in such relations. As to aerial connections, conditions, under certain conditions, as has been outlined, well. Under that as will be approached in next conference, no. As might be in a second, or third, or fourth, perhaps consider.  READING 900-33

4. The health of [1187] would be better here. The associations, the surroundings, for THAT BODY would be better here, see? Those of some of the others, individually, perhaps, not so good – perhaps – for the environs are different, see? The general condition, all concerned, WELL. Ready for question.  READING 288-13 (re. moving to a new address)

23.  Do these things for at least ten weeks; that is, including the weeks of the hydrotherapy treatments and the weeks of taking the Atomidine, and also one – perhaps two – colonic irrigations during that period.  READING 2988-1

James Randi doesn’t specify precisely what frequency of use of the word ‘perhaps’ constitutes Mr. Cayce’s ‘fondness’ for it but evidently this is about 6 occurrences spanning a period of more than four decades.  How often does the average person normally use the word?  Perhaps Mr. Randi is psychic regarding Mr. Cayce’s fondness?  Contrary to Mr. Randi’s statement of prolific use of this word to avoid positive declarations, as evidenced by even (all of) the ‘perhaps’ qualified statements by Edgar Cayce above, they are invariably decisive and specific.

Mr. Randi would have been well-advised to not contrive fabrications about the most thoroughly documented psychic in history.  Evidently he thought that no one would ever check.  His book was released in 1982 – over 30 years ago.  Cayce enthusiasts evidently don’t spend much time in Mr. Randi’s dark corners.

Based on the foregoing I couldn’t recommend anyone purchasing Mr. Randi’s book.  Not finding it available for free at the library I’ve garnered the above from a skeptic site called Straightdope.com.  Therein they also write: “One example discussed in detail by Randi is Cayce’s extraordinary failure in divining information about the Lindbergh kidnapping case.”

Edgar Cayce’s reading regarding the Lindburgh Baby

  1. GC: You will have before you the information which has been given through these sources regarding Charles Augustes Lindbergh, Jr., and the individuals who have sought to carry out this information in locating the body. You will please locate the body at this time, March 17, 1932, and answer the questions as I ask them regarding same.
  2. EC: Yes, we have the information as has been given regarding Charles Augustus Lindbergh, Jr. Now, as we find, changes have been made in the location of the body. The body now, as we find, is in Jersey City, taken this morning – early – car – New York – license 2M 217.
  3. In locating the PRESENT location, we would find from the terminal, or broad street, we would turn at the bank – which turns directly to the right. This bitulithic or hard surface street, down three – four – blocks. Turn right, down hill, see? to a gravel or rough street. Turn right again. Unpainted house, yet VERY well located for the section. Some peoples surrounding same have changed. Madge no longer with the body. The body not so well.
  4. There is, as we find, an attempt to communicate with some of those that are in authority, concerning the whereabouts. Not of the police, not of the higher gangster, but rather to the direct is there being sought. This, as we find, should be reached, or would reach the communicating lines, by early afternoon; as to where from, through whom, not yet fully determined. We would look there. Ready for questions.
  5. (Q) What is the name of the street on which you turn from Broad?
    (A) Seems to be more numbered than named. There are many streets, but this turns at the bank – as there’s only one bank with sign on same.
  6. (Q) What is the sign on the bank?
    (A) Clock. Jersey City Trust – guaranty Trust – 10:58, by the clock.
  7. (Q) You turn right off of Broad, at the corner of this bank?
    (A) Turn right; that is, coming from – towards – the viaduct way, turn right.
  8. (Q) Is there any number on the house where the body is?
    (A) Sixty-three (63).
  9. (Q) What is the name or number of the street that you turn off of the macadam street?
    (A) It’s three streets up from this bus terminal – goes down a hill – one little alley way, and then to this dirt street.
  10. We are through for the present. READING 2988-1

What happened, if anything, after Edgar Cayce gave this information is unknown.  If anyone similar to James Randi was in authority in the investigation then it died on the vine.

The Straightdope website further writes: As James Randi notes in his classic book, Flim Flam, “It is no secret that his cures were quite similar to the ‘home remedies’ described in the handy medical encyclopedias that were bedside reading in many rural homes in the late 1800s.”

Edgar Cayce prescribed cures that were easily at hand for the subject, often in rural areas, or otherwise obtainable, during that era.  How similar any were to other remedies available at the time requires a greater degree of specificity and investigation. But, if any were what was best suited to the subject’s medical needs, and they were on hand, then why wouldn’t they be recommended?  Most likely James Randi has never even seen one of these  alleged handy medical encyclopedias and invented them for more fake credibility.

In truth Mr. Cayce prescribed a GREAT deal of treatments previously unheard of.  On one famous occasion he prescribed curare (poison) to a dying baby with seizures.  The infant then fell asleep, woke up well, and grew up to become a medical doctor who worked with the Association.

Edgar Cayce also foretold that medical diagnostics would one day be performed via analyzing a drop of blood.  A common procedure today it must have seemed like science fiction at the time.

There are also many Cayce prescribed treatments that modern medical practice has yet to explore;  The Cause of, and Treatment for, Psoriasis is one such insight:

Mr. Randi must be racking up the karmic bonus points in discrediting those who would defraud others particularly in God’s (a spiritual context) name.  According to Edgar Cayce, however, our individual roles on Earth are to render the Infinite, finite and Mr. Randi, in his zeal to expose fraud, has also been discrediting a genuine path to psychic awareness – an infraction that must be, at least, equal in scope to those of his targets.  I’m not optimistic that, when it comes to Mr. Randi’s life review, however entertaining, his righteousness will turn up on the desired side of the ledger.  Randy’s getting up there in age so there’s not much time left for redemption during this sojourn.  Is it possible that his karma will be to have his own psychic ability retarded via ridicule for a great many lifetimes?  Intent is everything, according to Cayce.

Mr. Randi is funded by General Dynamics

It could be entertaining, albeit dark, to check out what other weird stuff  this big government contractor could be paying Randi to discredit?

The Cayce teachings often repeat the biblical message “…[love] thy brother as thyself”.  This is part of the most important lesson, the Whole Law, according to Cayce.  Under the circumstances the best light in which to regard James Randi might be with patience, as a parent might an impish little liar.  The scamp knows the difference between right and wrong and we all hope that he comes around sooner rather than later for everyone’s benefit.

If Mr. Randi would prefer not to give the A.R.E. his $1,000,000 prize for providing prolific proof of genuine psychic ability then perhaps he could donate it instead to the Monroe Institute which routinely qualitatively verifies Remote Viewing in a (former military) manner that appears to be palatable to the general public.  There has been, and continues to be, no shortage of rigorous quality ESP research conducted worldwide the results of which aren’t the same as Mr. Randi’s performances.  He can, at any time, take his pick and endow any worthy accredited institution.
